Photographing Shipwreck Cove in Zakynthos Greece

Photographing Zakynthos island's Shipwreck Cove from the top of the 200 meter high cliffs for my Zakynthos island images collection. .

For photographing the beach and Shipwreck below I used my Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Android phone and Shoulderpod S1 grip. Both photos where taken using the Note 3 ' s stock camera app. The wide shot was taken using the panorama mode with the phone held vertically and panning from lift to right. The photos where then edited in Snapseed.

Guide To Visiting Shipwreck Cove On Zakynthos Greece

On the north west coast of the Greek Ionian island of Zakynthos you will find Shipwreck Cove or Smugglers Cove  also called Navagio Beach which is probably the most famous beach in Greece and can only be accessed by boat but is well worth the trip.

This picturesque beach has been photographed and featured in many holiday brochures, travel books and televised advertisements. The boat was shipwrecked back in 1980 after hitting rocks in bad weather while being pursued by the Greek Navy who suspected it was carrying contraband cigarettes.

Those tourists planning to lounge in the sun are advised to bring all necessities with them as there are no facilities in this secluded bay. A sun umbrella is a must, as the heat radiates off the white cliffs and there is no shade on the beach to get away from it, especially at midday.

As you can see from pictures,  Shipwreck Beach is enclosed within large steep cliffs which give it this remote, inaccessible feel. Because of that, it is impossible to wa…

My Shoulderpod S1 Arrived

My Shoulderpod S1 arrived today. The Shoulderpod S1 is a 3 in 1 professional smartphone rig. The S1 can be used as a Tripod mount. A hand grip and a stand for your phone. The S1 works great even with huge smartphones like my Galaxy Note 3. I’m looking forward to getting out and shooting with this soon.
For more information and to order the S1 see Shoulderpod’s website.

Alistair Ford A Visually Impaired Photographer

Hello I'm Alistair Ford

I have been taking photographs since 1998 but In 2006 I was diagnosed with Cone Dystrophy which is a genetic eye disorder that affects the cones in the back of both eyes causing my eyes to be extremely sensitive to light and loss of central vision. I am now registered severely sight impaired (blind)

There are a lot of things I have had to give up doing because of my sight loss such as driving, going into buildings with bright lights and even going out on my own. But one thing I still enjoy doing is my photography. Although I had to sell my Digital SLR camera gear because I couldn’t see through the viewfinder anymore, I have found new ways to take photographs and videos and edit them using smartphones and tablets instead of cameras and computers. I have had smartphones by Apple, Samsung and Sony but my current favourite is to use my Huawei P9 wth it's dual Leica cameras and full manual controls.

After taking photos I connect to  WiFi and everything I sho…
